Caring About Kids' mission is to empower foster children in Ingham County to feel loved, understood, unique and protected; to be educated, to celebrate the large and small gifts of childhood; to realize they are special and important and to become useful members of our community.
With your help, we can give foster children a reason to celebrate, not despair.

Dec. 17th, 2007 - Senator Gretchen Whitmer, Dick Whitmer and Richard Whitmer have generously chosen Caring About Kids, Inc. as the charity to which they will donate $ 25,000 through the Whitmer Family Foundation in December of 2007. Meijer has responded to this donation with a contribution of $2,500. These funds have been earmarked to assist non-paid placements in Ingham County (such as relative homes which are not licensed foster homes) with clothing stipends they would not normally receive because of budget shortages. Caring About Kids has received great support in the past to give foster children opportunities beyond the essentials. Caring About Kids is now calling on you to contribute toward the $100 gift card we are hoping to give all foster children in non-paid placements in Ingham to buy some pieces of clothing they would like to have in their closets. Can you help?
Caring About Kids is a private charitable group that helps foster kids in Ingham County by providing funding for things that are not paid for by other sources.
Local and federal sources provide the "basics" (food, shelter, medical services) but do not provide any monies for special items for foster children. The needs of foster children are myriad ranging from dental care to simple things such as tennis shoes for sports. Most come to foster care with nothing more than a few belongings in a paper bag. Caring About Kids provides money for Christmas gifts, sports activities, music lessons, summer camp experience, instruments, etc.
